Welcome to the Classroom Academy

A Sustainable Teacher Residency and Apprenticeship Program
An Overview:  The Classroom Academy Residency and Registered Apprenticeship offers graduate level candidates for initial NYS teaching certification a full time classroom position being paid during their graduate program.  Classroom Academy residents are placed in a rigorous co-teaching model with a high quality lead teacher for two years where they can apply their graduate level learning with guidance and see it come to life with students everyday.

Immersive learning

Candidates are engaged in guided assessment, planning, and teaching as they work with their Attending teachers.  They develop a deeper understanding of the students as well as the school community through the full-time mentoring which leads to a smoother transition into the profession. This immersive experience benefits the candidates, Attending teachers, and P-12 students.

No prior teaching experience required.

Residents, from graduate programs in SUNY Plattsburgh @ Queensbury, SUNY Empire, or Sage Colleges, can be matched and placed in in districts throughout the region.

Our Expansion Continues

We are excited to now be a NYS Registered Apprenticeship program and our expansion to additional districts, including welcoming Lansingburgh, South Glens Falls, and Warrensburg.  We are also welcoming candidates from three higher education partners SUNY Empire State College and Sage Colleges Esteves School of Education.
